About the Role:
Mobile Maintenance Manager Jobs in Kalumbila Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team of tradespersons, technicians, and support staff to ensure all equipment performance targets and work management KPIs are consistently met.
Your leadership will be critical in developing and implementing maintenance strategies, promoting a strong safety culture, and fostering collaboration with operations to minimize downtime. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and shutdown maintenance strategies for all Heavy Mobile Equipment (HME) classes.
Drive reliability improvement initiatives to increase mean time between failures (MTBF), reduce mean time to repair (MTTR), and maximize equipment availability. Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations for major equipment failures and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
Monitor and enhance condition monitoring programs such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, and thermography. Benchmark fleet performance against OEM standards and industry best practices.
Oversee maintenance planning, including work order prioritization, resource allocation, parts availability, and backlog management. Collaborate with Operations to align maintenance schedules with production demands to reduce operational downtime.
Maintain accurate equipment history, failure coding, and maintenance records within the CMMS (e.g., SAP). Manage the annual mobile maintenance budget covering labour, parts, contractors, and consumables.
Support capital planning for fleet replacements and major component rebuilds. Maintain strong relationships with OEMs and third-party service providers.
Develop and implement safe work procedures aligned with the LMC Occupational Health & Safety Policy. Manage workforce capacity, shift rosters, training, development plans, and succession planning.
Conduct performance reviews, address disciplinary matters, and recognize high performance. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in mining maintenance roles, including at least 5 years in a leadership role managing HME fleets of 50+ units. Proven expertise with large mining equipment such as 100–400 tonne haul trucks, hydraulic shovels, electric rope shovels, and dozers.
Strong understanding of maintenance management principles and ability to interpret technical drawings and maintenance manuals. Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia is required.
