Minimum Requirements:
- Matric.
- Degree or National Diploma in Production / Operations Management.
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar role within Production (preferably Automotive).
- Computer literacy – MS Office and Syspro.
The Job:
Report to the Production Manager:
- SHE:
- Conduct continuous risk assessments and planned task observations.
- Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues.
- Address workplace hazards and risks.
- Apply safety, health and environment practices and legal requirements when working on machines and equipment.
- Conduct Toolbox, Safety Alerts and/or any other Safety information to teams.
- Implement, maintain, improve and promote 5S in the workplace.
- Quality Management System:
- Comply with the requirements of the Manufacturing Quality Systems.
- Achieve PPM targets.
- Monitor production parts in conjunction with the Quality Assurance department.
- Notify the Quality department of any quality non-conformances.
- Promote quality accountability.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis for quality related issues.
- Financial Control:
- Participate in the audit process.
- Protect company assets (working capital & fixed assets).
- Promote good Corporate Governance.
- Complete Time & Attendance for payroll.
- Production Management:
- Supervise the work unit to achieve work unit objectives.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing related problems and sub-standard performance.
- Set and adjust manufacturing/production machine conditions to produce quality finished product.
- Control the manufacturing process.
- Plan, lead, organise and control resources.
- Ensure optimal plant efficiencies to achieve demand output.
- Meet daily/weekly and monthly targets.
- Manage WIP on areas.
- Generate CIP ideas and drive this concept.
- Materials:
- Conduct the monthly stock take.
- Identify and process waste.
- Effectively manage minimal usage of raw materials, consumables and PPE.
- Maintenance:
- Anticipate and troubleshoot machine functioning.
- Monitor maintenance of manufacturing equipment, tooling and services.
- Handle first-line maintenance.
- Reporting:
- Update the shift production results.
- Report on production and machinery downtime.
- Attend relevant meetings.
- Staff Management:
- Supervise the team to achieve work unit objectives.
- Plan allocation of labour.
- Obtain approval for and recruit and select employees.
- Conduct outcomes-based assessments.
