National Museums Board (NMB) is a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Tourism whose mandate is to establish, develop and manage dynamic and sustainable national museums for the preservation and interpretation of Movable heritage for the benefit of the present and future generation.
1. LEGAL COUNSEL
Type of Employment – Three (3) Years Contract of Service
Location – National Museums Board Secretariat, Lusaka
Job Purpose
To provide strategic legal advice and leadership to National Museums Board, ensuring legal compliance, effective management of legal risks, contracts, litigation and regulatory matters while safe guarding the interest of NMB.
Main Duties
▫ Manage the preparation of annual work plans and budgets for the Department and facilitate smooth execution of the activities by officers;
▫ Ensure that the activities and operations of NMB comply with applicable international laws, regulations, statutory requirements, and other relevant legal instruments;
▫ Managing and being responsible for the legal archive of NMB and for keeping records of contracts/agreements, judgments, instructions and memorandum of understanding concerning NMB;
▫ Responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to the Board, Director General (DG) and Senior Management on matters or directing to the mandate, governance and legal activities of NMB;
▫ Representing the Legal Department in internal and external meetings;
▫ Responsible for drafting, analyzing and reviewing laws, orders, instructions, regulations, rules of procedure and contracts relating to all activities of NMB;
▫ Responsible for preparing judicial or extra judicial legal actions on behalf of NMB;
▫ Receiving summons and be responsible to prepare rebuttal pleadings for NMB;
▫ Liaise with external legal counsel and Principal State Attorneys on litigations, judgments and legal matters affecting NMB;
▫ Responsible for coordinating with the Human Resources Department the implementation of legal training for NMB staff;
▫ Identify potential changes to the NMB Act and manages the legal reform process and the introduction of new legislative measures aimed at improving the Zambian business environment;
▫ Draft and peruse legal documents, statutory instruments, Cabinet memoranda, contracts and agreements, pleadings, affidavits, deeds, leases and applications in order in order to safeguard the Board’s interests and ensure that they are efficiently and effectively executed
▫ Manage the preparation of periodic and adhoc reports on cases and other legal matters that have a bearing on the Board;
▫ Supervise and review the performance of subordinates to ensure effective execution of work plans and related activities in key result areas;

▫ Knowledge of public and administrative law, corporate law, contracts and intellectual property regulation and the NMB Act and policies;
▫ Proven ability in drafting contracts and provide legal advice to large institutions (either public or private) concerning agreements on large public or public-private investment/projects;

Qualifications
▫ Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent with at least five (5) credits, including English
▫ Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB)
▫ Post graduate Diploma in Legislative Drafting
▫ Advocate of the High Court of Zambia
▫ Member of LAZ in good standing
▫ Have not less than seven (7) years’ experience at the Bar
2. RELIEF ASSISTANT KEEPER – ORNITHOLOGY (1)
Type of Employment – Two (2) Years Contract of Service
Location – Livingstone Museum, Livingstone
Job Purpose
To assist and facilitate planning for conducting of Ornithology research, collection acquisitions, collection documentation, curatorial services, exhibition mounting, inventory, publication and de-accessioning in order to enhance preservation and dissemination of knowledge of Zambia’s Avian fauna.
Main Duties
▫ Facilitating research, collections acquisition, collection documentation, curatorial services, mounting of exhibitions, publications and storage of collections.
▫ Facilitating timely preliminary acquisition of relevant new collections for study and preservation for posterity.
▫ Mounting periodically exhibitions for public enjoyment, awareness and education.
▫ Facilitates efficient curation of collections, monitoring of environmental conditions and care of collections for posterity.
▫ Facilitating accurate documentation in compliance to acceptable documentation system for easy retrieval, identification, and security of collections.
▫ Facilitating undertaking of inventory of collections and de-accessing process of objects/specimen that are in bad condition.
▫ Undertaking regular inspection of collections in the storerooms and galleries
▫ Undertaking research publications and public educational presentations
Qualifications/Requirements
▫ Grade 12 School Certificate or its equivalent with at least five (5) credits, including English
▫ BSc in Wildlife Management, Ecology, Biology, Natural Resources Management and relevant field

Job Purpose
To undertake maintenance works and facilitate outsourcing of all other maintenance and repair works of the Museum infrastructure in order to provide a conducive environment.
Main Duties
▫ Carries out effectively basic maintenance work to museum buildings and equipment in order to keep them in good condition
▫ Ensures the timely maintenance and repairs of furniture and all office equipment in order to restore them to their working condition
▫ Arranges for timely hire of specialized services in order to ensure that adequate maintenance services are provided.
▫ Compiles timely maintenance reports relating to his/her job for the attention and action of the Assistant Administrative Officer.

Main Duties
▫ Types accurately all draft correspondence documents of the Director’s office to ensure the attainment of high quality standards in the production of correspondence and documents.
▫ Receives and accurately records all correspondence and documents from both internal and external sources for appropriate attention and action.
▫ Takes down and transcribes accurately dictation in order to facilitate efficient and smooth operation of the office.
▫ Attends timely to all general enquiries including telephone for the office in order to facilitate correct dissemination of information and reporting.
▫ Keeps accurately a record of appointments and assignments in order to enhance timely attention and action.

Job Purpose
To provide cleaning services, guiding, receiving and monitor the adherence to safety and security regulations in the galleries in order to promote highest standard of cleanliness and gallery security of the institution.
Duties
▫ Initiates and undertakes timely cleaning services to ensure conducive environment.
▫ Undertakes daily inspections of galleries to ensure conducive environment and security of collection on display.
▫ Ensures that visitors observe and adhere to safety and security regulations in the galleries to prevent loss or damage to collections and property.
▫ Guides effectively visitors in galleries and to relevant offices
▫ Undertakes the receiving of entrance fees and crafts sales.

9. DRIVER/MECHANIC
Type Of Employment – Permanent And Pensionable
Location – National Museums Board Secretariat, Lusaka
Job Purpose
To drive and provide technical support services in mechanics in order to provide an efficient transport system.
Duties
▫ Timely acquisition of vehicle/generator sets consumables, insurance and licensing in compliance with existing road traffic regulations.
▫ Timely repairs, maintenance services and cleaning in order to keep the vehicles/generator sets in good running condition.
▫ Drives authorized officers responsibly and timely within authorized times to facilitate accomplishment of duties and assignments.
▫ Security Ensures that institutional vehicles are parked in recognized secured and authorized areas in order to avoid thefts.
▫ Ensures accurate completion of log books in order to avoid unnecessary and unauthorized errands.
▫ Reports timely the occurrence of road traffic accidents to his/her supervisor for prompt action.
Minimum Academic Education:
