RESPONSIBILITIES:
SARS Administration & Compliance
- Manage and monitor SARS correspondence and incoming communications.
- Follow up on outstanding SARS matters via the SARS Contact Centre and other communication channels.
- Escalate unresolved matters where required.
- Prepare and submit complaints to the Tax Ombud when necessary.
- Schedule and attend SARS appointments.
- Maintain and update taxpayer registration information and registered particulars.
- Assist with public officer updates and taxpayer profile maintenance.
Tax Registrations, Amendments & Deregistrations- Attend to registrations and amendments for various tax types.
- Prepare and submit applications for deregistration of Income Tax, VAT and PAYE accounts.
- Process trust registrations and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate taxpayer records on SARS eFiling.
Tax Return Preparation & Compliance Support- Prepare draft individual income tax returns.
- Prepare draft company income tax returns.
- Prepare draft provisional tax returns for individuals, companies and trusts.
- Prepare VAT, PAYE and dividend tax returns.
- Compile supporting schedules and tax working papers.
- Assist with responses to SARS verification and audit queries.
eFiling Administration- Manage taxpayer profiles on SARS eFiling.
- Add, invite and maintain users and client access.
- Update banking details, addresses and contact information.
- Obtain tax compliance status letters, tax clearance certificates and related documentation.
Client Onboarding & Tax Administration- Perform tax compliance and hygiene checks for new entities and individuals.
- Compile onboarding summaries and identify compliance risks.
- Request statements of account, notices of registration and other SARS documentation.
- Prepare supporting documentation, resolutions, powers of attorney and declarations.
Tax Residency & Specialised Tax Matters- Assist with cessation of South African tax residency applications.
- Attend to requests for remission of administrative penalties.
- Process payment reallocations and related SARS requests.
- Assist with various ad hoc tax administration matters across the family office portfolio.
REQUIREMENTS- Relevant qualification in Taxation, Accounting or Finance.
- 3–5 years' experience in a tax administration or tax compliance environment.
- Working knowledge of SARS eFiling and SARS administrative processes.
- Experience dealing with individuals, companies and trusts.
- Strong administrative, organisational and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and confidential information.
